Picture of the World

Pearl in an oyster
Oyster in a shell
Red and black
Ladybug on the wind.
Loved her for a year,
Like a needle threaded through.

Two fish swam silently
Silver in a fountain
Isabel and Samuel;
Bare feet on cool stones
Mosaic pavement from Spain.
Loved her for a year,
Like a needle threaded through.

Love confounded her
Virtue knew no modesty,
Paradise met perdition.
Lips drinking from a fountain
Those things we cannot have.
Loved her for a year,
Like a needle threaded through.
